Mario Kart 8 Tournament Rules
General rules

You can choose your character, vehicle and 1 race course per
stage.
You can think about what course you want before, if you don't pick,
it will be random.
- 4 players will race 4 courses (Grand Prix).
- The 2 highest ranked players move on to the next round.

In the final, the participants will play 8 races instead of 4.
- Only Hyper Island students or alumni allowed.

1.2 Validation of results

At the end of a round, participants must immediately report the
result of the round to the “judge”.
1.3 Rules related to the proceedings

Ties will be broken by a single race between participants (same
rules).

If the number of participants is not a multiple of 4, some games
will be randomly reduced from 4 to 3 players so that all the
participants can play.

Participants have 10 minutes to arrive for their game when they are
called or they automatically lose the game in progress.

A participant may not be replaced for a game or during a game.
2. Map Picking

Before each race, each player chooses the map they like to play for
that race.
- A map cannot be chosen more than once during the same round.

4. Interruptions

It is prohibited from leaving an ongoing game unless it is permitted
by the format of the game or expressly authorized by an
administrator.

If a participant breaks the previous rule by leaving the game before
its end, the person will be considered to have finished in 4th place
in the set.

Pressing pause (main menu button) is only allowed if all
participants agree to do so.

Even if the above condition is met, it is permitted to pause only in
one of the following cases:

One of the participants must absolutely speak to an administrator.

A problem occurs with the equipment (e.g., crashing, controller
disconnection).

An emergency beyond the control of the participants occurs (e.g.,
fire alarm).

If the two previous articles are not respected, the participant who
pressed pause will be considered to have finished in 4th place in
the set.

If one of the participants considers they have been the victim of a
violation of the rules during a game, the participants must not stop
playing before the game is over. Once the game is over, a
participant can request an investigation from the administrators
according to section 8.

In any case of interruption, administrators can make the decision to
restart a game if they wish to do so.
